11-11 Make A Wish (And Work)

Wish on this. See what happens.

It’s 11-11 make a wish! I’m not sure where this trend began, but it’s become commonplace to make a wish when the clock strikes 11:11. And, November 11 has also become a good luck day. There’s nothing wrong with that, especially if it creates a more hopeful attitude in otherwise gloomy individuals.

A teacher of mine used to say “wish in one hand and [crap] in the other. See which one fills up faster.” In other words, wishing is a waste of time. I tend to agree with that sentiment, if we’re talking about run of the mill fantasizing.

However, having dreams is a great thing. And, if every time the clock rolls around to 11:11, then by all means wish for those dreams to become a reality. Everyone needs hope and something to look forward to in life.

However, dreams won’t make themselves come true, especially for a man. If he wants to get a good job, become famous, get a girlfriend, or achieve any other meaningful goal, he’ll have to do more than just wish for it. He’ll also have to work his butt off.

Anything worth having is going to require a lot of work. This isn’t meant to be a downer, just reality. If things like wealth and fame were easy, then lots of people would have them. They’re rare because they’re difficult to acquire. They require the creativity and hard work that the average person just doesn’t have.

So, today is November 11. It’s a lucky day. Make a wish. But whatever it is you truly want, be prepared to have passion and put in the hard work necessary to achieve it.
